I am starting with the impact that the movie THE WHITE BALLOON created upon me.This is the directorial debut of the renowned Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi. The story of the movie deals with the adventures of two young children,7 year old Razieh (a girl) and his elder brother Ali.The film opens in a Teheran market where the little girl and her mother are shopping and the city is poised for new year celebrations..Razieh continuously nags her mother for buying her a gold fish which she craves for in the eve of Iranian new year. It's a busy day as people are in a festive mood to celebrate the NEW YEAR that is beginning to set in.But Razieh finally manages to bag a 500 note from her mother to buy a gold fish for 100 tomans and return her the balance.Unfortunately,Razieh looses her money at first and when she manages to find it,accidentally for the second time she drops her money in the grate of the entrance of a store which has been closed for new year celebration. The rest of the movie continues with desperate attempts by Razieh and her elder brother Ali to retrieve the money from there.Continuing for long in this manner ,Razieh's brother finds an Afghan balloon seller who had a hook attached to the end of the stick in which a white balloon was hanging. The Afghan boy helps them in this distress by giving Razieh's brother,Ali a chewing gum to be attached at the end of the stick in order to procure the money from where it had dropped.Their effort proved to be successful and finally they recovers it from the underground. The movie draws the attention of the audience in this point where it ends with the Afghan boy who helped them with the white balloon stick departing alone and the New year is set in.He has become an important character at the end of the film.Besides it also portrays the young girl's disillusionment and frustration when in spite of requesting other shop owners ,they don't help her to pick up the money.Jafar Panahi's direction has a lovely precision, though it doesn't seem that it is his directorial debut film. This film won several awards including the CANNES film festival award in 1995.The way a tailor fights with his assistant,or a kindly grandmotherly woman helps Razieh can expose a lot, especially to the sharp eyes of this little determined girl. However, the backdrop is suitably matching with the young girl's desperate attempts to find the money.I must say that this is a charming Iranian film, made in persian language that leaves a deep impression in the minds of the audience. Here in lies the success of the director and as well as the other important persons associated with this film.

The Ever Glowing Magic Lamp!..I must say...brilliantly witty..satirical..intelligentl y highlighting upon some v.v.v.imp issues of our society...through life ofcourse.....Kudos To Mr.Anik Dutta..BB had a certain color of it's own and AP has it's own too..which is making the Lamp all the more bright...and the color is mostly due to the amalgamtion of so many different characters with their own unique t raits..the characters are the representatives of some common urban Bengali prototypes..hilarious moments..specially,the dialogues..the fantasy tale is a layer upon the reality..and Mr.Dutta has wonderfully presented that...Perhaps he was the ventriloquist through the Genie..The First half was brilliantly engaging with a v.good pace...and then the beginning of a journey..which Mr.Anilava, actually the representative of middle class Bengali people was aspiring for..What I mostly liked about this movie was the characterisation part...when a man wishes to rise to the highe...
