Here I am to aware you all about the LONGEST TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE in the 21st century that the world viewed on 22nd July,2009.It lasted a maximum of 6 minutes and 39 seconds. The NASA declared that TAREGNA in Bihar is the expected best place to view the eclipse.Totality of the eclipse was viewed from cities in India like Surat,Varanasi,Gaya,Patna, siliguri ,Guwahati and some other places in China and Nepal too.A hurry was noticed among the scientists, astronomers and researchers from all over the world who rushed from thier respective places to TAREGNA in Bihar as it was the expected best point to view the eclipse. They have also taken into account the effects of the eclipse and changes in behavioural pattern of micro organisms and animals. However,as an avid lover of rare celestial phenomenon I tried my luck to observe the same.Although the sky was covered with dark clouds, yet it gave a few momentary glimpses around 6.25........26 hours.Still,it was a great achievement I think. But it was vague and hence not clear. This seemed to be a matter of disappointment.Anyways,I watched in Tv people are simply crazy to view the solar eclipse in Varanasi,it reminded me of Aldous Huxley's piece of work on BENERAS where he mentioned a similar kind of partial solar eclipse I think and he was simply astonished to find how people flocked in Beneras to observe the eclipse. But certainly, this should be remembered by all as it is the longest solar eclipse of 21st century and not to be surpassed untill June 2132.
