2012....The Mother of all disaster movies!!!!

Here I am to share my views about this movie-2012.In this regard I would like to mention that director Roland Emmerich did a great job including the acotrs like John Cusack,Amanda Peet,Oliver Platt and so on.The film presents before us a global doomsday in 2012 with a series of cataclysmic events and the anxiety, cacophony of people in such a chaotic situation.Due to solar flare bombardment the earth's core begins heating up at a rapid rate and therofore resulting such events as the falling of California into the Pacific ocean, the erruption of the Yellowstone National Park, shifting of the continents by the crustal displacement and various other events. The film centres around a group of people trying their best to escape from such a situation and reach the ships to the Himalayas.I was really moved by a scene when Jackson and his family were not allowed to enter inside China as they didnt possess the tickets. The effects of the movie are just awesome which will make you feel that as if...

A Thousand Splendid Suns...

That day I finished the book A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS by Khaled Hossaini. This book vividly depicts the lives of two women,Mariam and Laila in the rugged terrain of Afghanistan under the strict rule of the Talibans. The Talibans , an ethnic group of the mujahideen are Pashto speaking people who imposed certain restrictions upon the lives of women in Afghanistan and henceforth made their lives miserable. The bonding between Mariam and Laila are almost like mother and daughter being maried to the same man Rasheed(thier husband)an Afghan guy. These two endure not only the brutality of their husband Rasheed but also the appalling atrocities of the taliban.Yet they remain resilent and true to themselves.Laila lost her parents in a bomb blast during the Civil war in Afghanistan and afterwards she was almost forced to marry Rasheed who was already Mariam's husband then.Even she was misguided as a man told her that her beloved Tariq is dead.Laila and Mariam ...
I am starting with the impact that the movie THE WHITE BALLOON created upon me.This is the directorial debut of the renowned Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi. The story of the movie deals with the adventures of two young children,7 year old Razieh (a girl) and his elder brother Ali.The film opens in a Teheran market where the little girl and her mother are shopping and the city is poised for new year celebrations..Razieh continuously nags her mother for buying her a gold fish which she craves for in the eve of Iranian new year. It's a busy day as people are in a festive mood to celebrate the NEW YEAR that is beginning to set in.But Razieh finally manages to bag a 500 note from her mother to buy a gold fish for 100 tomans and return her the balance.Unfortunately,Razieh looses her money at first and when she manages to find it,accidentally for the second time she drops her money in the grate of the entrance of a store which has been closed for new year celebration. The rest of the movie ...

Here I am to aware you all about the LONGEST TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE in the 21st century that the world viewed on 22nd July,2009.It lasted a maximum of 6 minutes and 39 seconds. The NASA declared that TAREGNA in Bihar is the expected best place to view the eclipse.Totality of the eclipse was viewed from cities in India like Surat,Varanasi,Gaya,Patna, siliguri ,Guwahati and some other places in China and Nepal too.A hurry was noticed among the scientists, astronomers and researchers from all over the world who rushed from thier respective places to TAREGNA in Bihar as it was the expected best point to view the eclipse. They have also taken into account the effects of the eclipse and changes in behavioural pattern of micro organisms and animals. However,as an avid lover of rare celestial phenomenon I tried my luck to observe the same.Although the sky was covered with dark clouds, yet it gave a few momentary glimpses around 6.25........26 hours.Still,it was a great achievement I think. But it was va...

End of College...Recollection Of By-gone Days

To my college RBGC, This is to pay my respect, love and show my gratitude to all the teachers and friends for what I have GAINED from you in the last 3years.I still remember the day when I stepped into this college,in July 2006....it was Raining cats and dogs ,I met one of my old friends from my previouis school who said that she got admitted in the History department of Rani Birla Girls' College.I took English honours and was nervous from the first day thinking how this college and my elders will treat me as i was almost an ALIEN there at that time. A strange fear gripped my heart as I thought How would I behave if Im ragged severly, how would i face my new classmates as it was no more a school. But all my fears and anticipation proved to be wrong when I entered the classroom, with 2 other girls who later became very good friends of mine. All the teachers introduced themselves and gave us a warm reception in this college,.Really!!!my concep...

Sourav Ganguly's Honorary fellowship....

Im really very happy to come across the news that former India Cricket Captain Sourav Ganguly has been conferred the honorary fellowship by University of Central Lancashire for his determination and talent.Definitely, this is a prestigious honour in the life of any person...the discipline does not matter. For you all to know,Im a die hard fan of ''Dada'' and I no more indulge myself in watchingIndia's cricket matches as Dada is not in the team now.I still remember the day when Dada retired from international cricket ,he distributed some of his cricket bats and jerseys amongst the fans and everybody was just crazy to manage at least one of them. This person made his first international one day debute at Old Traford thirteen years ago and has played all total 113 test matches and 311 ODI's.He is the pride of not only India but also all over the world amongst the cricket lovers.I admire him greatly for his determination, persevearence and patience .Really what he cont...

Today I am here to share my experiences about the KERALA trip that we made two and a half years ago.The pupose of mentioning the year is to aware you all that how lazy I am to share my experiences with you. But,as I remember a detailed account of our Kerala trip, therefore I have ventured to present it before you all. Any trip that promises the Western ghats and Arabian Sea at the same time is bound to be a unique experience. However,in the puja vacation on the scheduled date I alnong with my parents embarked upon the Coromandel express which set off at around 3pm from Howrah station.Although it took 2 days almost to reach Ernakulam railway station, yet I didnt feel borred in this long hours of railway journey. It reminded me of Ruskin Bond's description of train journey where he used to pick up an incident in the train and narrate it before the readers.I enjoyed the changing topographies, climate, language of different places as the train was passing through several states to my heart...

Are the Black Days of Life Approaching?

this is to inform you and want to share my thoughts that whether the black or golden days of my approaching or not.Part 3 results have been declared and now it is the time for admission in university.Everywhere there is a huge crowd of students which is quite obvious. This is really painful when I see that students who were not in the queue are getting application forms much earlier than us who are standing in the queue for hours. This is a sort of mismanagement in our education system also.Let's see what happens finally in the admission procedure.
