Visit to Puri during Rathyatra..

It was just incredible!!We infact planned to visit Puri,Orissa on 9th july,2011(during ulto Rath)fortunately not knowing that the Ulto Rath festival is of great importance in Puri and hence gained a lifetime experience, the memories of which are still refreshing in my mind. The festival continues for almost 5days in Puri inviting visitors from all over the country and therefore it is a phase of festivity, gaiety and enjoyment.Local people enjoy greatly during this time including the visitors who get an opportunity to visualise this whole event of Ulto Rath at Puri.I am always uncomfortable in huge crowd since my early childhood but didnt deprive myself of viewing the three Raths of Lord Jagannath,Balaram and Subhadra coloured black, green and yellow respectively.Massive mob assembled on the ground to have a look of lord jagannath inside the Rath.Fearing about the consequences of falling from the Rath due to huge fanatic crowd of about 10lakhs,I didnt attempt to climb upon the Rath to have a look upon Lord Jagannath but still I consider myself lucky enough for whatever I could.Besides the Rath, this time I also gained a wonderful experience of viewing a completely different look of the sea at evening/night during the full moon. The image of waves splashing across the shore and especially the inscrutable whiteness of the sea reminded me of Captain Ahab's adventures in the sea in Moby Dick.Really this whiteness produces so much terror and i often get surprised not knowing properly why do I get frightened seeing the milky white sea?One evening I witnessed that the sea is flat with almost no waves of great height but at the same time felt that the sea is quite dangerous..Leaving this part, the reflection of the moonlight upon the waves gave rise to a tinge of golden colour that was mesmerising indeed!!Just unforgettable and inexplicable...One must experience such a heavenly thing on earth...It seemed to me that as if I am discovering a sea in a new form of which I was ignorant before.I used to spend hours at the beach along with my parents and enjoy the beauty of the night sea...At a distance I could sea ships which were travelling through this vast extent of the sea.Perhaps they were passenger ships or cargo ships or large boats used for the purpose of shipping which reminded me of the movie Matching Jack..the imagination of the boys regarding a ship..It was quite difficult to stare in such an invisible darkness with only the white sea in front of me,but I stared at it for a long time..The power of the sea came lingering into my mind which ultimately ended up with the feeling that I am enjoying a precious moment along with my parents.Anyways after relaxing for some days,we returned back to Kolkata with such sweet memories to be cherished forever.
